The Best Regimen For College Fitness

I came across this infographic the other day, and seeing as how so many kids will be headed to college soon, it seemed appropriate.

I’m all about making fitness accessible, because when there’s a barrier it’s much harder to get going. I know that first hand, because I often find it difficult even when I have everything I need.

But for those motivated by the new surroundings in college, this graphic might be perfect for you. I’ll note that the only thing I’d change if I’d created this myself is that the recommendation from folks like Jason Seib, Robb Wolf, and Mark Sission, three names I trust implicitly, is that cardio should not be long-term huffing and puffing, but rather weekly quick sprints and/or daily long walks. Most college kids probably don’t need to worry about that: long walks to class are the norm, and occasionally sprinting is required to get there on time.

Quick note: Before any of this can be effective, your college diet should be solid. I wish I’d heard about Paleo while I was in college, because I’d have taken advantage of my activity and used it to supplement a good diet. If you eat like crap, don’t expect this stuff to work.

Other than that, Allons-y!
